Wanderlust Wednesdays | Cococabana Beach, Brazil
Posted: Nov 19 2014
For this week's post we wanted to jump ahead a bit! Cold weather in Southern California means that the holidays and New Years is close. So we figured a great early bird post on Ano Novo was in order! At none other than. . . .Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janiero Brazil! People all over the world flock to this New Year's celebration held on the beach and in the streets. It is customary to wear white to bring in good luck for the New Year, however it is acceptable to accent your white outfit with certain colors, red for romance, green for health, or yellow for success. Just don't wear black, it is bad luck for the New Year! There is live music, fireworks, and champagne to celebrate the night away. Be prepared for champagne to fly through the air and land on you as people tend to get wild! One reason to dress up your Sorella Swim, this way you can take a quick dip in the ocean after getting splashed with champagne! After midnight everyone flocks to the beaches to jump over seven waves and throw flowers into the sea. This tradition says the goddess that protects the sea will also make your wishes come true. These are just some of the Brazilian New Years traditions! Be sure to book your reservation for dinner early because it gets busy right by the shore. It is best to get your tickets ahead of time and book your hotel reservation as prices go up for this big event. So we figured we would give you all a heads up to prepare! Don't forget your Sorella Swim!
